VILLA boss Dean Smith could boost his defensive ranks this summer by making a £5million move for QPR’s Tom Leistner.
According to Sky Sports reporter Pete O’Rourke, Smith is targeting the Loftus Road club captain.
Smith has had injury probelms to contend with this season and currently has only two fit recognised centre backs in his squad.
He will not want the same difficulties again next season and while QPR do not want to sell Leistner, who they picked up on a free transfer from Union Berlin, they are thought to be ready to listen to bids.
Leistner, 28, has become a fans’ favourite and Cardiff City are also interested in the German player as they prepare for a possible return to the Championship.
