VILLA’S Under-23s produced an impressive display on Monday night to beat Newcastle United 3-0.
There were five Academy players included in the Villa side as Newcastle collapsed.
Villa went ahead in the 16th minute when Harvey Knibbs’ header crawled over the line from a Tyriek Wright corner.
Newcastle had little answer to a youthful Villa side who looked dangerous on the break.
Wright was involved again as Villa increased their lead in first half stoppage time.

Villa keeper Vilijami Sinisalo made a couple of important saves in the second half as Newcastle tried to get back into the game and emulate their first team’s performance against Everton at the weekend.
But Villa had chances to wrap the game up when Knibbs and Wright wasted one on one chances.
Villa did find a third goal late on hough when Kelsey Mooney – son of Tommy – took the ball around Newcastle keeper Nathan Harker before scoring.
