FA charges after Blues clash

BREAKING: By Graham Hill

THE FA have hit both Villa and Blues with charges of failing to control their players during Sunday’s derby clash.

Both teams have until Monday to answer the charges which relate to the fifth minute of the game.

The FA said: ‘Birmingham City and Aston Villa have been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20 following their fixture in the EFL Championship on Sunday.

“It is alleged they failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the fifth minute of the fixture.

“Both clubs have until Monday to respond.”

While the headlines from this game centred around the attack on Jack Grealish by a pitch invader, this incident appears to follow on from Maikel Keiftenbeld’s early challenge on Grealish which earned the Blues midfielder a yellow card,

The issue of a fan invading the pitch and punching Grealish happened in the 10th minute of Sunday’s explosive fixture.
