TAMMY Abraham looks set to be involved in a race against time to be involved in next Saturday’s clash with Blackburn Rovers.
That will be bad news for Villa boss Dean Smith with Abraham on 21 goals for the season. The on-loan Chelsea striker has still not recovered from the calf injury suffered against Middlesbrough.
And he has withdrawn from the England Under-21 squad to face Germany on Tuesday.
Abraham has almost a week to recover in time for the Blackburn game, but he has to be a doubt and that could mean a recall for Jonathan Kodjia.
But he has chipped in with just six goals this season and has not scored since December.
Abraham’s absence would be a blow but – by his own high standards – he has been going through a lean spell of not finding the net for three games.
But Villa have not needed his goals in those matches with John McGinn finding form.
A fifth victory in row would keep Villa’s momentum going and put pressure on fifth placed Middlesbrough
