TYRONE Mings says only one thing can stop Aston Villa sealing a play-off place now – themselves.
Central defender Mings netted his second goal in Villa colours as Dean Smith’s side grabbed a 2-1 win over Blackburn to seal a fifth successive win.
It has been a superb month for Villa with all five victories coming in March.
And Mings has emerged as a firm favourite with Holte Enders after his January loan move from Bournemouth.
Promotion to the Premier League would make a permanent move to Villa possible.
And Mings is focused on getting his new side into the play-offs.
He told Villa’s official website: “Every game’s massive. We need a different set of skills going into every one.
“Every match is different. But we feel well equipped at the moment to beat anyone.
“The only thing that can stop us is ourselves really.
“If we’re right every game, we’ll be absolutely fine. We need to keep it going.”
Mings added goal to the first one he scored against Sheffield United in the memorable comeback against the Blades at Villa Park
He added: “It was another goal for me. They seem to be going in at the moment.
“But I love it. Obviously the most important thing was holding on for the win. But to score another goal was special.
“My overall emotion is relief, I think. We knew how big the game was coming off the back of the international break, obviously. We didn’t want to kill the momentum.
“We could’ve been a lot more ruthless at times but credit to the lads it was an unbelievable performance.
“It was a different test we had to face in comparison to some others over the past few weeks.
“We had to show a different side of us – and get the win in a different way.
“Credit to Blackburn. I thought they were good and a difficult team to play against.
“It can be difficult playing teams in mid table because they have nothing to gain and nothing to lose. That frees them up to play how they want.
“I thought they were good but, as I said, it was relief to get the three points.”
