VILLA have reportedly missed out on a summer transfer target – Serbia midfielder Nemanja Radoja.
The player was said to be on his way to Villa Park to fill the one of the gaps left by Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak if the duo leave this summer.
According to Galcia Press, the Celta Vigo midfielder will join another Spanish side Real Betis on a free transfer at the end of the season.
And it said to be a blow for Villa who had been targeting the 26-year-old.
Villa had been hoping to take advantage of the fact that Radoja has been frozen out at Celta this season.Since arriving from Vojvodina in 2014, he had played nearly 150 times in his first four seasons at the club.
But when he refused to sign a new contract, Radoja was sidelined his contract runs out this summer – he has made no first-team appearances to his name this season.
El Desmarque newspaper said Radoja had a January exit blocked – and a move to Aston Villa had been agreed. But he failed to get a work permit and the move was shelved.
