JORDAN Veretout could be on his way back to the Premier League – despite flopping at Aston Villa.
The Frenchman was part of the shambles of a Villa season that saw them relegated to the Championship in 2015.
Veretout admitted he had turned down the chance to sign for Leicester City the previous summer – and could have been a Premier League title winner under Claudio Ranieri.
He signed for Tim Sherwood’s Villa side in 2015 in an £8million deal from Nantes.
And he said the reason he came to Villa Park was that he had promised them he would sign – despite Leicester offering more money.
But things did not work out for him and he as loaned out to St Etienne the following season.
Veretout then joined Fiorentina in 2017 and has rebuilt his career.
Now French publication Le Foot claims Arsenal are interested in Veretout as a possible replacement for Juventus-bound Aaron Ramsey.
That would be a tough one for Villa fans to take after he made such a poor impact during his time here.
But chaos behind the scenes and three different managers in one season would not have helped him.
