VILLA will looking for make it eight wins in a row against Bristol City – and it is 44 years since they have done that.
It was 1975 and Villa were managed by the legendary Ron Saunders who would take Villa to the Football League title six years later.
At that time though, they were in the second tier of the English game – the same as now – and on their way being promoted back to the top flight.

How times have changed, Villa won promotion, but they had to settle for second spot – behind Manchester United.
The teams they beat in that eight match run were: West Bromwich Albion, Millwall, Cardiff City, Oldham Athletic, Blackpool, Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland and Norwich City.
That year, Villa also won the League Cup in a 1-0 win against Norwich City at Wembley.
Victory over Bristol City would set Villa up for a tilt at another promotion – but this time they would have to go through the play-offs – something that did not exist back then.
