ASTON Villa boss Dean Smith says it would be ‘crazy’ if the club did not get bids for Jack Grealish this summer.
Tottenham are almost certain to come back in for the Villa skipper after falling to sign him last summer.
Spurs were close to clinching a deal for Grealish when Villa were in financial trouble after failing to win promotion.
But when new owners Wes Edens and Nassif Sawiris took over they refused to let Grealish go.
Now Smith is bracing himself for more interest in Grealish, 23 – especially if Villa miss out in the play-offs again.
Villa are likely sell him if they fail to win promotion back to the Premier League.
Smith said: “It’ll be crazy if we don’t get bids for him.
“But he’s committed his future to the club, he’s got a long term contract, he’s a Villa fan.
“He’s now captain as well, there’s an awful lot of things for him to stay here for.”
Villa secured their place in the play-offs with two games to spare after a record-breaking 10 successive league wins.
And Smith says Grealish is the best player in the Championship after playing a key role in that run.
The Villa boss added: “Jack’s the best player I’ve worked with.
“He’s got a natural ability combined with a strong work ethic and mindset.
“Jack’s very well respected in the dressing room.
“I said when I first working with him what a talented played Jack is – and now he’s bringing goals and assists with him.”
