Report: El Ghazi future in balance

By Graham Hill

ASTON Villa could miss out on the chance to sign Anwar El Ghazi on a permanent basis this summer.

Greek website Sdna.Gr says super agent Jorge Mendes – who has been working with Villa – has offered Olympiacos a chance to sign the Holland attacker.

El Ghazi is currently on loan at Villa from French team Lille – and promotion to the Premier League could turn that into a move next season.

But Olympiacos are looking to strengthen this summer after losing the league title to PAOK, and El Ghazi is believed to be on their wanted list.

Olympiacos have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks, including Manchester United attacker Tahith Chong.

Lille are ready to sell El Ghazi and are apparently not looking to bring him back into the fold next season.

Villa would be unlikely to keep El Ghazi next season if they do not win their Championship Play-off Final clash with Derby County on Monday.

El Ghazi is also thought to be interesting other Premier League clubs after showing some impressive form in recent weeks as part of Villa’s Play-off push. He has played 35 games for this season and scored six goals. His Lille contract runs out in June 2021.
