ROBBIE Savage has tipped Villa to win the Championship Play-off Final and return to the Premier League.
But he has made it clear he is supporting his former club Derby County.
The former Blues midfielder also captained the Rams – but he made his surprise Wembley prediction in his Daily Mirror column.
Savage is famously unpopular with Villa fans – particularly for his role in Second City Derbies.
In 2003, he was head-butted by Dion Dublin and the ex-Villa striker was sent off.
Savage has made no secret of the fact that he enjoys winding up Villa supporters.
But the Welshman believes it is time for Dean Smith’s side to win promotion after last year’s disappointment at the hands of Fulham.
However, he also wonders if, after Derby’s miraculous second leg victory at Leeds, whether the Rams can produce another performance like that against Villa.
Savage wrote: “My head says Aston Villa but, as a former Rams captain, my heart says Derby County.
“Although Villa have the firepower, and deserve to be favourites, I wonder if Frank Lampard has one more rabbit left in the hat.
“With respect to all my friends in the claret-and-blue half of Birmingham… come on, Super Frank!”
