JOHN TERRY says there is only one problem with John McGinn – he cannot play for England!
The Villa coach hailed Wembley man of the match McGinn after the club’s promotion back to the Premier League.
Scotland star McGinn moved to Villa last summer in a bargain £2.7million meal from Hibs.
But his value has skyrocketed since and Terry is a firm fan.
The Chelsea legend told the Scottish Sun “Do I wish John was English? Yes, and I wish he was playing at Wembley more.
“That’d be good. John’s superb. Jack Grealish gets all the headlines, but it’s the work John does.
“You see him day in, day out and it’s how he trains and how he plays.
“He’s a great pro and a great lad. There’s just a great spirit among all the boys. He and Jack get on really well, on and off the pitch. You can see it when they’re playing.
“John is capable of playing like that in the Premier League.
“Getting promoted also means we now get the chance to keep Jack and John and all of our other good players.”
Terry, 38, admits he misses playing after his career ended with Villa at last year’s Play-off final.
But he added: “Nothing compares to playing, no chance. But this is great. Now it’s all down to the lads. You’re a small part of that.”
