JACK Grealish is believed to have told Villa he wants to STAY at the club – and reject any move from Tottenham to sign him.
Sky Sports have reported that skipper Grealish is in no mood to leave Villa Park now that they are back in the Premier League.
In an incredible three month period, Grealish has been handed the captaincy and led Villa to promotion through the Play-offs.
But with the 23-year-old harbouring ambitions to play for England and win honours, there was still a nagging feeling that Spurs may return for Grealish.
If they did, then Grealish’s value would be upwards of £60million with boss Dean Smith rating his value even higher.
But Grealish signed a new deal last season when owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris took over from Tony Xia.
That would have included a huge promotion bonus and Grealish looks to have all he needs at Villa Park with ready to build his squad around him.
And with ambitious and rich owners in the boardroom, Grealish is surely confident that Villa can be a threat next season.
Had it not been for the arrival of Edens and Sawiris, Grealish would be at Tottenham now after they made a £25million bid with Villa needing to sell to ease their financial problems.
And if Villa had remained in the Championship this year, then Grealish would have been sold to meet FFP requirements.
Grealish scored six goals and provided seven assists in 35 matches last season – and that was with a three-month absence due to a shin injury.
Villa are reported to be interested in Nottingham Forest forward Joe Lolley – but that could be on the back burner now as he was being lined up as a replacement if Grealish left.
