VILLA are facing competition in their bid to sign Luton Town’s England Under-20 defender James Justin.
Dean Smith’s interest bringing Justin to Villa Park was clear even before winning promotion back to the Premier League.
According to Football Insider, Villa made a £7.5milion bid for the 21-year-old full-back and looked to be leading the race.
Now Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to have moved into pole position to sign him after reportedly matching Villa’s bid.
However, there would appear to be more opportunities at Villa for Justin at the moment.
Leicester already have two international full-backs in Ricardo – on the right – and Ben Chilwell.
Chilwell is a left-back but he could leave the King Power Stadium with Manchester City showing interest.
Leicester have also lost another right back in Danny Simpson whose contract is up this summer. Daniel Amartey can also play in that position and is receiving from an ankle injury suffered last October.
Justin scored three goals with eight assists for the League One-winning Hatters last season – and he was named in the League One Team of the Year,
As well as playing at right-back, Justin can also operate on the left.
Southampton, Fulham and Crystal Palace are also keen on Justin who won promotion from League One with champions Luton last season.
Villa and Leicester’s owners both have the financial clout to offer Justin lucrative terms – so it now seems to be down the player as to where he wants to play next season.
