BIRMINGHAM’S Harlee Dean may have been caught singing anti-Villa songs at the Blues awards night last month – but now he has changed his tune.
Defender Dean has taken time out to praise his former Brentford boss Dean Smith for winning promotion with Villa this season.
Dean, Che Adams and Wes Harding were all caught on camera singing ’S*** on the Villa’.
But in reality, Dean is delighted that Smith has had success at Villa Park – and says he will impress in the Premier League.
Dean played for Smith at Griffin Park before singing fir Harry Redknapp at Blues two years ago.
But Dean told The Mirror: “Let’s be honest, you can’t take anything away from Villa.
“They won 10 games in a row, which is different level stuff in this league.
“They were probably the strongest team in the play-offs as well and one of the better teams we have played this year.
Dean reckons Smith’s Villa reign has been a ‘dream’ for him so far.
He added: “I think Dean Smith will be great in the Premier League. The fact that he was an Aston Villa supporter from a young age as well, it is very special for him. It is something dreams are made of.”
“I am over the moon for him. Fair play to them. Dean’s my old manager and I couldn’t be happier for him — and his assistant Richard O’Kelly as well.
“They’re up, we would’ve liked to have played them next season and beaten them, but you never know how the cup runs go.”
