JOTA’S move from Blues to Villa is expected to be confirmed within ‘days’ according to the player’s family.
The Birmingham wide man is set for a reunion with his former Brenford boss Dean Smith at Villa Park.
It is a move that has been expected since last week but sources close to Jota’s family have told La Voz de Galicia that Villa are closing in on the transfer.
Gary Gardner – who has been on loan at St Andrew’s – would move in the opposite direction with Villa paying around £4million on top.
Sources close to the family of Jota Peleteiro – to give him his full name – said ‘he has just committed himself’ to Villa.
The newspaper also says Villa have ‘rushed’ to complete the signing, and all bring well, it is believed his ‘presentation will be in the coming days’.
La Voz say there is already an agreement in place between Birmingham City and Aston Villa which tallies with what was reported in the UK last week. It would be no surprise to see Jota as Smith’s first signing of the summer. Smith took Jota to Brentford in 2014 from Spanish club Eibar.
