VILLA have until Thursday to decide if they are going to complete a move to bring Kortney Hause in from Wolves on a permanent basis.
Hause has been lined up to come to Villa after impressing on loan as both a central defender and a left-back.
A hip injury held him back but he returned to form part of Villa’s Wembley squad as they beat Derby to secure their promotion back to the Premier League.
Whether that has changed boss Dean Smith’s thinking remains to be seen.
Villa may now have set their sights higher – and the talk of former England under-21 international Hause signing permanently came at a time when promotion looked a long way off.
But Smith clearly rates the impression made by Hause after taking a while to settle in. He made 12 appearances in all and scored in the key 3-1 win at Nottingham Forest.
The Express & Star report that it is thought Villa have until Thursday to trigger an option to make the move a permanent one.
Personal terms would then have to be agreed with to complete the deal.
A move to Villa would suit Hause as he would appear to have little future at Molineux under boss Nuno Espirito Santo. But with Villa looking at other defensive targets, it remains to be seen if the Hause deal will still be completed.
