VILLA could be beaten to the signing of rising star James Justin this week.
Boss Dean Smith wants to sign the 21-year-old as he aims to build a squad capable of being competitive in the Premier League.
But Leicestter are now in advanced talks with the player according to Football Insider.
And Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers could have a deal wrapped up by the weekend.
Villa have already made a £7.5million bid for the full-back.
But Leicester are keen to strengthen on the right hand side of their defence after releasing Danny Simpson.
Villa also need reinforcements in that area but Leicester look to be leading the way.
It will be frustrating for Smith who is looking to boost all positions in his first team squad ahead of their Premier League return.
And he does not have long to do it with the window shutting on the eve of the new season in two months’ time.
Smith should get at least one more player through the door this week with Kortney Hause set to follow Jota.
Villa have triggered a £3million deal which will allow him to move from Wolves to Villa Park after being on loan.
Deals to turn two other loan moves into permanent transfers should also happen soon with Villa looking to sign Tyrone Mings from Bournemouth and Anwar El Ghazi from Lille.
And Football Insider also says that Villa are interested in Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori who was on loan at Derby County last season and finished as the Rams’ player of the year.
Tomori would cost Villa £10million and is another player who would be well known to coach and Chelsea legend John Terry.
