VILLA were reported in Turkey to have had a bid accepted for Egypt winger Trezeguet – but now there could have a rival in the battle to sign the 24-year-old.
This is another Villa transfer saga that is rumbling on in the background while other deals go through smoothly.
But now Italian site Tutto Mercato Web says Serie A side Sampordia have now joined the face for Trezeguet.
Villa were expected to do a deal in the region of £10million for the player even though his club Kasimpasa initially wanted £13.5million, claiming there was interest elsewhere.
How serious Sampdoria would be about making a move is unknown but Villa are a long way down the line with the deal accoutring to Kasimpasa officials.
Sampdoria are said to have made a bid for the player which comes close to Villa’s offer.
Trezeguet scored 16 goals with eight assists from 33 games two seasons ago to put himself in the shop window.
He went to the World Cup with Egypt and had a hand in another 19 goals in Turkey last season. But this is another transfer tale with a frustrating amount of twists and turns as far as Villa are concerned.
