ANOTHER day, another Aston Villa keeper target.
Villa’s moves in the transfer market have had a habit of dragging on this summer.
But their search for a new goalkeeper seems to be a cause for concern.
England’s Jack Butland looked to be their main priority – but a rejected bid for Burnley’s Tom Heaton also appeared when Stoke City started asking more than £20million for their No1.
Cardiff’s Neil Etheridge and Newcastle stopper Martin Dubravka have also been linked with a move to Villa this summer.
Now Fulham’s 6ft 4ins Marcus Bettinelli, 27, is the latest name to appear on Villa’s supposed list of keepers.
And with just over two weeks until the transfer window closes, it is a worry that Villa now appear to be crossing names off their list until they can seal a move.
Bournemouth appear to be having similar problems, as they also wanted Butland and are now also looking at Bettinelli, according to the Daily Mail.
Bettinelli played just eight times in all competitions last season for Fulham and was injured during the second half of the campaign, with the London side heading towards relegation from the Premier League.
The London-born keeper has one England senior call up to his name – from September last year – but has yet to be capped.
