MARVELOUS Nakamba’s agents have insisted that the Villa-bound player did not go AWOL from Club Bruges – and is no troublemaker.
The Zimbabwe midfielder was reported to be refusing to train with the Belgian club after the Africa Cup of Nations because he as trying to force through a move to Villa Park.
Nakamba, 25, was said to be frustrated that Bruges were apparently blocking the move because they were holding out for a 12million euro fee.
Now Villa have had an £11million bid accepted, and a deal is expected to go through before the weekend.
But an un-named source close to the player says that Nakamba did not stay away without Bruges’ permission.
Zimbabwe newspaper NewsDay quoted one of the players advisers as saying: “The deal is almost done, and Nakamba should be a Villa player before end of today.
“A lot of things have been said on social media and on the internet, with the player linked with a lot of teams, but that’s social media for you.
“Remember they even said he was AWOL, but the truth is his club knows what is happening.
“Nakamba is not AWOL and that is the reason Club Brugge has not said anything because they know his situation and what is happening. He is very professional and will not do anything like that to jeopardise his career.”
