CONOR Hourihane says the core of Villa’s promoted squad will be telling the new faces ‘what this club is all about’.
The Ireland midfielder signed a new contract at Villa Park this summer – as manager Dean Smith’s signings went into double figures.
Hourihane says there will more arrivals before the start of the new Premier League season.
But he points out that three of those new signings – Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause and Anwar El Ghazi – were with Villa on loan last season.
And he believes the squad can gel quickly despite the rapid turnover of exits and arrivals.
Hourihane told Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre: “There’s a huge amount of players coming in this season, because we lost a lot after the Play-Off final last season.
“We knew that would be happening.
“I don’t think we’re going to be finished there either. We’ve all settled in and they’ve all got some huge quality about them. They’ll bring their strengths and it’s a huge exciting time for the club.
“We’re all looking forward to the big challenge ahead.
“But it was hugely important to get people like Tyrone back, Kortney, Anwar, they all played a big part in us going up last season.
“The new players coming in will see myself, Jack Grealish, John McGinn, and we can let them know what being part of this club is all about. We want them to buy into it and have a good season as well.”
