Delays, but Marvelous deal ‘done’

By Graham Hill

MARVELOUS Nakamba’s planned move to Villa has been held up over two issues according to reports in Zimabwe.

But Belgium’s HLN newspaper now say the player has agreed a five year Villa Park deal and an announcement is imminent.

Villa’s lengthy pursuit for the player looked to have ended last week when they agreed an £11million fee with Club Bruges for the Zimbabwe international.

But now The Herald in Nakamba’s homeland says there has been a delay getting the deal over the line.

The player and his agents have been negotiating personal terms and that took time to finalise.

But the newspaper also reports that there are work permit issues that have still to be ironed out.

It looks like the move has not been a straightforward one for a player who did not turn up for pre-season training at Bruges.

Nakamba was reported to be pushing for a move to Villa rather than returning to Belgium. The player’s agents say Bruges knew all along what was happening and were happy to negotiate the move with Villa.

But now Bruges appear to be confident that any problems have bee sorted out and the move can go through as expected.
