VILLA winger Andre Green is in talks over a loan move to Preston North End according to reports.
The 21-year-old is wanted by North End boss Alex Neil says the Football Insider website.
It means Villa head coach Dean Smith could be looking for another player in a wide role for the new season.
Green was seen as Villa’s fourth choice winger after Smith signed Jota and Trezeguet – with Anwar El Ghazi turning his loan move into a permanent deal.
But Villa have also been strongly linked with Liverpool’s Wales international Harry Wilson – and West Brom winger Matt Phillips.
Smith allowing the promising Villa fan Green out on loan at this stage of the summer might signal another late signing.
But the Villa boss is thought to be focusing more on bringing in a new striker in the remaining week of the window.
Yet Smith is keen on Green – and made sure he was recalled from a loan spell at Portsmouth when he took over as manager from Steve Bruce. But he clearly feels the player will not get the first team chances that he had last season.
