VILLA are reported to have made a fresh £15million bid for Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Boss Dean Smith has been on Phillips’ trail all summer but Leeds have resisted any offers from Villa so far.
Leeds are believed to want around £30million for the highly rated player who has been offered a new deal at Elland Road.
Now the Football Insider website says Villa have returned with a new offer.
That is despite Smith snapping up Douglas Luiz for £15million from Manchester City – although there are still work permit details to be sorted out – and Marvelous Nakamba in an £11million deal from Bruges.
Of course, Villa also have two star midfield men in Jack Grealish and John McGinn – while Conor Hourihane has signed a new contract.
But the links with Phillips will not go away although Leeds are also expected to turn down any new offer from Villa.
Phillips is due to start for Leeds at Bristol City on Sunday with the window shutting five days later. The player has so far rejected Leeds’ contract offer but his current deal still has two years left to run.
