DEAN SMITH says the injury problems that hit Anwar El Ghazi, Jed Steer and Ezri Konsa last weekend should ease before the Premier League opener at Tottenham this Saturday.
Konsa and Steer missed the club’s final pre-season friendly of the summer against RB Leipzig last Saturday.
And Holland winger El Ghazi had to come off in the second half of Villa’s 3-1 win in Germany.
But Villa boss Smith says the problems will be sorted in time for the Spurs game.
Smith told Villa’s official website: “Ezri has had a bit of a niggling thigh. It’s nothing too much to worry about. He should be training Tuesday or Wednesday this week.
“Jed picked up a heel injury so he didn’t travel to Germany with us. He should be training at the back end of the week, too. And Anwar should be fine for the weekend.”
It could be that Smith goes into the game against Maurico Pochettino’s side with a virtual clean bill of health – although it is hard to see someone like Douglas Luiz playing due to the delays in him being awarded a work permit following his £15million move from Manchester City.
