VILLA are reported to be weighing up a £10million move for RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin.
The Football Insider site says that Dean Smith has targeted the France Under-21 forward – who is a PSG Academy product.
Augustin is for sale after slipping down the order at Leipzig last season, which was his second at the club after signing from PSG in 2017.
The interested is said to have come with Brentford’s Neal Maupay joining Brighton. Villa were thought to be close to a deal with the Frenchman who played for Smith at Griffin Park.
But once it became clear he was not coming to Villa Park, Smith turned his attentions elsewhere.
And while Augustin is not in the picture now at Leipzig, he did produce under former boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, now at Southampton, when he scored nine goals in 25 league games.
The link comes just four days after Villa played Leipzig in a pre-season friendly and there has been no confirmation of a move for Augustin. However, he is just 22 and fits the profile of new signings at Villa this summer.
