VILLA are believed to be in talks to sign Galatsaray’s Senegal striker Mbaye Diagne, 21.
Dean Smith was believed to be lining up a deal for RB Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin.
But now Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük says that Diagne is set to come to Villa Park after negotiations had begun.
Smith is keen to bring in a new striker before Thursday’s deadline and is also set to sign Brentford’s Algeria wide man Said Benrahma.
Diagne’s Wikpedia page was hijacked by Villa fans – as it claimed he had already signed!
The player is 6ft 4ins which suggest he is of similar build to record £22million signing Wesley.
He spent two years at Juventus but never played a first team game for them – spending most of his time there out on loan.
But then then moved to Tianjin Teda in China before joining Kasimpasa in Turkey – Trezeguet’s former club – and then moved to Galatasaray. He only signed for them in January though and did not make his debut until the following month. He made his debut for Senegal last September after failing to make Aliou Cisse’s World Cup squad.
