IT was one of the best performances of the season, and capped off with a brilliant goal from Jack Grealish that was started by the Villa captain in his own half.

After being reduced to 10 men and having defender Tyrone Mings sent off, Villa faced an uphill task.

But fans need not have worried as Villa took control and had the game won early in the second half to make it seven victories in a row.

Here’s how the game panned out…..

What’s your Goal of the Season?

WE would not blame you for getting a little twitchy during the international break – particularly as Villa are on a roll right now.

So we thought we would have a look back at the season so far.

And, in particular, some of the stunning strikes seen at Villa Park this season.

So here is our unofficial Goal of the Season competition again – in no particular order. Which one gets your vote?

1: JACK GREALISH v DERBY, March 2019: This goal works on so many levels, not only is it a brilliant finish, but it came on Grealish’s return to the Villa side after three months out injured and sparked a four game winning run to take Dean Smith’s side back into the play-off zone. Oh, and don’t forget the inch-perfect corner kick from Glenn Whelan.

2. JOHN MCGINN v SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY, September 2018: There are mixed feelings over this incredible goal as it came in a game which Villa lost. But this was the highlight for Villa. Technique, power, accuracy, it’s all here and now McGinn is finding this sort of form again at just the right time.

3: ALAN HUTTON v BLUES, November 2018: Here’s a goal that was not only a spectacular effort, but it also came against the Blues. The solo strike helped Villa to a 4-2 win and will live long in the memory as well as going down in the folklore of the fixture
